HORSE MASSAGE TRAINING COURSES

 Racehorse Integrative Support Therapies

Level 5

(Career Course)

Overview of the Training Programme

This course brings specialist training for the Horse Racing Industry designed to produce industry specific Therapists thus creating a pool of excellence within horse racing therapy and welfare. Delivered by the International training organisation EMA with UK Rural Skills accreditation. On completion, Therapists will be able to perform a comprehensive range of massage therapy & rehabilitation on horses internationally. It doesn't get any better than this standard!

The unique integrated programme produces equine professionals with excellent therapeutic practical skills and rehabilitation strategies to implement based on in-depth assessment of the horse and academic knowledge.

There is a growing demand for ‘high quality and caring’  professionals in the horse racing industry.  We meet this at EMA and every horse is treated as an individual – we don’t just teach you to massage a horse – every horse is different and requires a tailored approach.

What you Study

We draw upon an immense range of musculoskeletal therapeutic skills for you to apply, such as:  sports massage, deep tissue muscle release, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, joint mobilisation and more!  A combination of all of these techniques produce an Equine Integrative Support Therapist second to none with the skills and ability to help racehorses perform better,  recover better, ultimately enhancing their overall health and wellbeing.

Our training principles are based on objective, evidence based research and a thorough understanding of the horse and the horseracing industry.  This approach includes the horse’s behaviour and psychology and its physical structure including anatomy and physiology with a specific interest in performance enhancement and injury prevention.

We also cover a number of relevant supplementary subjects providing an ‘all encompassing’ programme of study, including rider and horse anatomical relationship and much more.

Programme Delivery

The programme is delivered by Angela Hall and her team of highly qualified, competent and experienced Instructors who are very approachable and create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment during your ‘Attended Learning’ with EMA and then with on-going support during the ‘Distance Learning’ part of the training programme.

You will receive all material for your distance learning.  At the attended learning we cover industry specifics so you are fully prepared for what you will encounter working in a therapeutic capacity with racehorses.   You will receive in-depth practical skills training on racehorses.

We provide a multimedia style of learning to suit all students learning styles and preferences.

The attended learning takes place at one of our racing yard locations.

Module 1 is taught first over 3 to 5 days and then Module 2 (the same format) six months later.  In between, you complete your distance learning which comprises of assignments and case studies on racehorses.  Flexibility is our ethos.

Progression

By training with EMA you will excel in your own therapy practice or might be employed directly as a Therapist for a large trainer.  You may even want to work overseas as we currently have graduates of this programme in a number of countries.

To support you through your career we offer a full range of add on CPD (continuing professional development) training days in associated therapies both complementary and alternative which are popular among our Graduates and again supplement your skills  to be the best you can be in the industry. Extensive training under one umbrella guaranteeing the same high standards.
