Racehorse Massage & Rehabilitation for Health & Performance

EMA is proud to work with the Northern Racing College, Doncaster by offering an exciting new exclusive Massage & Therapies for Racehorses qualification.

This is a specialist qualification for the Horse Racing Industry delivered by the International training organisation EMA Ltd with UK Rural Skills approval.  This is taught at the Northern Racing College using former race horses for all of the practical work.   On completion of the qualification, Therapists will be able to perform massage therapy on horses in the racing industry.

The qualification has been designed to produce industry specific Therapists thus creating a pool of excellence within horse racing therapy.  Unlike many other trained Therapists  who may not have specific Thoroughbred or Horse Racing experience, we believe this is of vital importance when producing a first class Therapist in providing the best therapy in the industry.

You can work as a self employed Therapist in the racing industry or directly for a Trainer.

A ‘full’ qualification ‘Equine Massage for Health & Performance’, also offered by EMA Ltd, can be applied for on completion of the Massage Therapy & Sports Science for Racehorses qualification, if Therapists wish to widen their career from horse racing to work in other equestrian disciplines. Students will be required to complete additional top up Mandatory Units at an additional cost.

We have designed a flexible study programme to suit all student profiles, whether studying already or in full or part-time employment in racing.

The programme is taught in two Modules (6 months apart) which incorporates 5 days of classroom study along with practical massage on Thoroughbreds, followed by a period of distant learning by completing assignments and field based case studies with race horses.

The course is 12 months in total and at the end there is a theory and practical final assessment.  If however, students wish to prolong their studies they can do so up to a maximum of 2 years.

On completion of the qualification, Therapists can attend any of the Continuing Professional Development courses (CPD) offered by EMA Ltd. as shown on the training course table.

The fees for the course are very competitive given the high standard of training offered by EMA and the earning potential once you are working in the industry as a Therapist.

Attendance in the UK training fees:

Total course fee is £2800

(Interest free payment plan options are available over 12,18 or 24 months)
